Zero Wate Muffin Making

A hands-on workshop focused on the theme of sustainability, food waste reduction, and healthy eating habits. By demonstrating how the pulp from juiced fruits and vegetables can be repurposed in a muffin recipe
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

Join a technician led session in the Cavendish Nutrition laboratories on the topic of food waste reduction.

Participants will learn a practical, eco-friendly approach to cooking. This session will provide both a drink and a snack, teaching the participants ways to reduce food waste and make the most out of their ingredients. This workshop will be a creative and experimental experience, encouraging participants to try out innovative recipe ideas and develop their own approaches to sustainable cooking.

Important: Please note that mandatory Food Safety Training is required for this event. This can be completed online here, entrance to the workshop will not be allowed without completion.

Session format:

· Introduction to Sustainability and Food Waste – Understanding the environmental impact of food waste.

· Juicing Demonstration: Participants will learn how to make fresh juice from a variety of fruits and vegetables using a juicer.

· Muffin-Making Workshop: The leftover pulp from the juicing process will be repurposed to make muffins. Students will work with a simple recipe, highlighting the use of food by-products.

· Tasting: Participants will enjoy the juice and muffins they’ve created, followed by a group discussion on what they’ve learned about food waste and sustainability.

Dress Code & Safety:

  • PPE will be provided on arrival.
  • Attendees must wear enclosed shoes and full-length trousers.
  • No jewellerynail polish, or false nails are permitted.

Failure to complete this may result in your place being allocated to another participant.
