Sustainable Innovation Challenge: Transform Manchester with Manchester City in the Community
Manchester is a world leader in sport, music, entertainment, and sustainability. But how do we ensure that the thousands of people attending concerts, conferences, and sporting events have a positive impact on both the environment and the local Manchester community?
That’s the challenge at the heart of the two‑day Sustainable Innovation Challenge. You’ll collaborate with students from three other universities across the UK and Europe, supported by Manchester City Football Club’s City in the Community team, to create innovative sustainable solutions that strengthen Manchester’s leading role in sport and entertainment.
The challenge begins with a full day of context‑setting, with visits to Manchester City’s East Manchester Campus, including a tour of the Etihad Stadium, and conversations with local community members and key stakeholders. On the second day, you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams with students from partner universities to design and develop your impactful solutions. The event concludes with team pitches, judged by sustainability experts and employers who will select the winning idea.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real sustainable impact in Manchester, connect with students and employers, and develop highly sought‑after green and project‑based skills.
As a participant, you’ll receive food and accommodation in Manchester City Centre, helping you fully immerse yourself in the experience and get the most out of the challenge.
Please sign up to register your interest. An application form will be sent to everyone who signs up, followed by a selection process.
