Portfolio Talk and Workshop for Art & Design Students
Designing your portfolio is a creative project in itself, there are no right or wrong answers, it will take time but it is worth spending the time!
We will begin this session with a general talk for Art and Design Students about how to approach your portfolio. We will include information about what to include, what to leave out and how to reframe it towards an external audience.
Following this, you will split into a group with the placement lead from each course who will share examples of portfolios from past students. You will critique and analyse what is effective communication and presentation.
You will apply this learning to your own portfolio and start this process with a short period of reflection around which university projects will provide a strong demonstration of your creativity and skills. You will then storyboard 3 projects, including details about what to include on each page.
Your portfolio is an ever evolving document of your continued professional development. You will adapt the format, switch around the project focus for each future role you apply for. We appreciate that it can be a daunting task
but you have to start somewhere! So why not come and join us and begin the process!
Following this session your placement and overseas study lead tutor from your course
will be able to offer guidance as you develop it towards an application.
