Navigating the Poetry Library: Collection organisation and Catalogue Usability

20th October 13:00 to 15:00
Do you want to take part in a fun, one-off research session and share your honest opinions? We’re looking for students to join a focus group for a project at Manchester Poetry Library — no previous experience with the library needed!

Here at Manchester poetry library, we use the Dewey Classification System to organise our collection- but is it user-friendly? This project explores how easy it really is for library users to find what they are looking for, especially when searching for something specific.

With your help, we aim to:

·      Test how users interact with the catalogue and physical collection.

·      Identify challenges and frustrations.

·      Co-create ideas for improvement.

What you’ll do

You’ll take part in a relaxed, hands-on session that includes:

·      A scavenger hunt task to find books within the library.

·      Using the online catalogue to locate specific books.

·      A focus group to share your thoughts and experiences.

(The focus group discussion will be audio recorded for research purposes but will not be published anywhere; by signing up you agree to this.)

Date: Monday 20th October

Time: 1pm-3pm

Location:
