
Manchester Big Butterfly Count 2025
The Big Butterfly Count in an annual UK-wide project, organised by The Butterfly Conservation Trust, using citizen science to monitor butterfly populations to understand our ecosystems health! Everyone can get involved by spending 15 minutes to count and record the number and species of butterflies in your area.

This event is not only for nature nerds but will introduce conservation, specifically the importance of butterfly species, and nature connection to people and communities that have had less interaction with our natural environment in an informative, friendly, and engaging setting!
Join students, conservation professionals and inspiring individuals from Manchester’s universities, organisations, and communities at Mayfield Park on August 6th!
The park has recently won 2nd at the European Garden Awards 2025!
You will be provided with a Butterfly ID guide and be supported as we complete our citizen counts together.
You are welcome to come alone, in a group, with friends or family for as long as you want!
