Little Workshop of Horrors: An introduction to health and safety hazards and risks

In this online and interactive session, you will hear about significant events that shaped the current health and safety landscape, as well as learning the basics of hazard and risk identification and how to assess health and safety risk.
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

What to Expect:

  • Interactive session: A member of the Health and Safety team will take you through a series of slides, quizzes and polls to develop your understanding of hazards and risk, and how the current health and safety landscape has developed over the past 200yrs.
  • Q&A Session: Opportunity to ask questions and engage with the Health and Safety team.

This online session will be delivered using Mentimeter and will involve interactive elements to develop your understanding of health and safety hazards and risks.

This exclusive to Future me week session is a fantastic opportunity to engage with the Manchester Met Health and Safety team and learn about the basics of hazard and risk identification.

Health and Safety management is a legal requirement in all workplaces and supports us all to work safely. In this session you will hear about some of the significant events that shaped current Health and Safety legislation as well as learning how to identify health and safety hazards and risks, and how to calculate risk scores using a risk matrix.

Open to all students at all levels.
