Learn to Sew on an Industrial Machine and Make a Designer Tote Bag

22nd January 09:00 to 13:00
Get creative. Get hands-on. Make it yours. Step into the world of design, creativity, and sustainability with this Future Me Week workshop! You’ll learn how to use an industrial sewing machine, and craft a bespoke tote bag using donated fabrics and trims, giving new life to sustainable materials while reducing waste.

This hands-on Future Me session invites students into the world of design, creativity, and sustainability. Participants will learn to use industrial sewing machines, experiment with their personal design style, and craft a bespoke tote bag using donated fabrics and trims – giving new life to sustainable materials while reducing waste. Guided by skilled industry professionals, learners will experience every stage of the creative process, from concept to finished product.

By the end of the workshop, students will walk away with a unique, handmade tote bag that showcases their creativity and craftsmanship. Along the way, they’ll gain practical skills in design and textile making, along with key transferable abilities such as problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, and attention to detail. Most importantly, they’ll develop the confidence to bring their ideas to life and create something from scratch.

This session not only nurtures creativity but also builds essential employability skills that are valuable across a range of careers, from fashion and design to entrepreneurship and product development. By exploring sustainable making practices, students also gain insight into the growing importance of environmental responsibility within the Fashion Industry.

Throughout the session, students will be guided and supported by experienced technicians and creative professionals who bring real-world expertise into the workshop. Their mentorship ensures that participants learn current, industry-relevant techniques and will walk away with…

  • A custom tote bag you designed and made by yourself
  • New creative and practical skills in design and making
