Journeys into Government Communications: Exploring Careers in the Civil Service

4th November 14:00 to 15:00
Join us for a session with The Government Communication Service to explore career paths in the Civil Service.

Description: People work in government communications because what we do matters. The Government Communication Service (GCS) is the professional body for more than 7,000 public service communicators working in over 350 government organisations. We explain the objectives and policies of the government of the day, and provide clarity and reassurance to the public at times of crisis. We support businesses to grow, we protect our environment, and we help those in need to access support.

To find out more, look on the ‘Communications’ profession page on Civil Service Careers.

Are you interested in learning about career pathways in the Civil Service? Have you heard of the Government Communication Service (GCS)? This session will be led by 3 GCS members who will share their experiences of their career journeys in the Civil Service. You will learn what the Civil Service is, what Civil Servants do and the role of GCS within this.

Who should attend: Whether you’re considering a career in government or communications or are curious about what it means to work for the Civil Service, this session will be a fantastic opportunity to explore your options.

Format: Presentation followed by Q&A.

Accessibility: We are committed to making this event as inclusive as possible. Find out more about the building and room on the Building Access Map. If you need any additional adjustments or further confirmation of the setup, please contact buslawcareers@mmu.ac.uk at least 24 hours before the event.
