Improve your employability - Get Carbon Literate!

20th January to 24th January
Gaining Carbon Literacy certification is an opportunity to equip yourself to make a positive change for you, for Man Met and for the planet. This activity is part of Future Me Week. It is a self-study activity delivered online via Moodle, with two live virtual events via Teams (introduction to the training & introduction to certification).

Climate change is widely recognised as one of the greatest and most urgent challenges facing humankind. This challenge has been recognised internationally, within the UK, and on a local level. Carbon Literacy learning offers the chance to develop your understanding of climate change, gain knowledge to cut your carbon footprint, and gain confidence to talk to others about the impact of carbon emissions on the planet’s climate. Furthermore you will gain certification in Carbon Literacy, an increasingly important employability skill.

This self-directed online training will give you an overview of the basic science of climate change as well as an understanding of the actions required by government, universities and other organisations, and individuals in order to set us on a path to a more sustainable.

The training is delivered via a series of videos, and activities and quizzes for you to demonstrate your learning. There will also be discussion forums for you to share your thoughts with fellow learners. Total study time is approximately 6-7 hours. Participants will be required to attend two live sessions:

 – Monday 20th January 11:00 am – 12:00 am (introduction to the online training)

 – Friday 24th January 11:00 – 12:00 (instructions for Carbon Literacy certification)
