How to Get a STEM Job

3rd November 12:00 to 13:00
Discover what STEM employers really want and how to stand out. Learn how to showcase your skills, write stronger applications, and approach interviews with confidence.

Why should I attend?

This interactive workshop will help you understand how to stand out in the competitive STEM job market — and what employers are really looking for. You’ll start by reflecting on your own degree and the skills, tools, and techniques you’ve developed, helping you connect your studies to real-world roles. Through open discussion, you’ll explore how to gain practical experience during your course, optimise your job search, and understand the recruitment process from an employer’s perspective.

You’ll then move on to “Brand Me” — identifying your personal value and learning how to communicate it through strong CVs, tailored applications, and confident interviews. The session wraps up with essential insights on professionalism, confidence, and resilience — the key ingredients to success in your STEM career journey.

What will I learn?

Recruitment Insights: Understand how STEM employers hire and why the recruitment process is key to your success.

Personal Value: Drill down into what you actually did in your degree — the skills, techniques, and tools you’ve mastered — and how to market them effectively.

Applications & Interviews: Learn how to write a standout CV, decide when to use cover letters, and prepare to impress at interview.

Career Preparation: Discover how to gain practical experience and make the most of opportunities during your degree.

Mindset & Resilience: Develop the confidence, professionalism, and persistence needed to succeed in STEM recruitment.
