HeadStart Employability Skills training (BA3 Only)

24th February to 25th February
HeadStart is a one day interactive workshop to help you identify and land that critical first role after graduation and prepare for the world of work. The content is designed to support everyone, regardless of profession, sector or function. Attendance - Refer to your Mymmu calendar for your allocated day.

Who :

HeadStart training is led by programme creator and experienced industry leader David Biggs, with support from MSA tutors.

David is a “hands-on” board-level operator, with experience across many business functions, with over 35 years of experience in a wide range of organisations, from family-owned to private equity and global, listed companies.

Operating in the UK, across Europe and globally, he has a good understanding of the different cultures within industry and how to make these work for you.

Having observed, learnt and adopted the critical success factors for both employees and employers, David’s new learning and development organisation, Consilium, focuses on supporting early years careers and the transition into employment in industry.

Consilium’s Vision is that people enjoy rewarding, happy careers and realise their full potential in the workplace.

What:

Starting with an interactive e-learning based pre-read activity, you are given an introduction to emotional intelligence and other insights into how we all behave in the workplace. This activity takes approximately 70 minutes to complete, including some short activities to prepare the ground for the main 5-hour workshop itself.

The workshop is structured around three key areas

1) Getting stuff done – how to understand what we have to do in a job and how to know how well we are doing.

2) Working with others – people skills and behaviours to get on with my manager and colleagues.

3) Managing Me – how to manage and organise ourselves, set and fulfil personal goals.

Finally, we conclude with job-hunting tips and techniques. This will help you prepare and demonstrate your best throughout the recruitment process.

There is plenty of opportunity to practice new tools and techniques. This enables everyone to go away with a personalised action plan to help meet your goals.

Consilium Learning & Development provides named certificates for all participants who complete the training.
