Government Communication Service (GCS) Live Project

2nd June to 4th June
The Government Communication Service (GCS) Live Project will run from Monday 2nd June - Wednesday 4th June 2025 on-campus at Manchester Met University. Come and learn what you could achieve through a career in communications, developing your skills to contribute to live campaigns which have an impact on lives throughout the UK and beyond.

This is a unique opportunity where you will get a real flavour of what it is like to work in Government Communications. You will work alongside members of the Government Communication Service in Greater Manchester, from media and stakeholder engagement to digital and internal communications.

What is the GCS Live Project?

  • This is a 3 day programme, where you will work on a communications project in teams with fellow students, developing your communications and employability skills.
  • You will get the opportunity to work with different Government Communicators every day, learning first-hand how government communications are developed.
  • You will be given all the tools you need to create your project.
  • You will deliver your group presentation to the members of the GCS on the final day. You will deliver the presentation in a safe and supportive environment, and this is an opportunity to develop your presentation skills.
