Global Perspectives on Fashion: Rethinking taste and beauty beyond eurocentrism

4th March 10:00 to 11:00
Global Perspectives on Fashion: Rethinking Taste (and Beauty) Beyond Eurocentrism invites you to rethink where your fashion references come from and explore creative perspectives beyond the dominant Western lens.
This activity is offered as part of Go Global - an exciting set of activities, allowing students to engage in an international experience. Are you having problems signing up to this event? Email GGW6@mmu.ac.uk and we will try to fix the issue for you.

Pannelist will share their key references (designers, image-makers, publications, or cultural practitioners) who challenge Eurocentric ideas of taste and beauty and explain why they matter in fashion’s evolving industry.

You’ll hear from Dr. Sharon Nunoo, Dr. Songyi Yan, Dr. Zhe (Ginnie) Wang, and Dr. Morolake Dairo, moderation by Anze Ermenc, before opening into a wider discussion on how looking globally can strengthen your work, broaden your visual vocabulary, and shape your future practice.
