Future Me Hackathon

22nd January to 23rd January
Take part in the Future Me Hackathon. Meet new people, learn new skills, and maybe even win a prize!
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

During this year’s Future Me Week, the Department of Computing and Mathematics are excited to be hosting a Hackathon! The Hackathon is open to all students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, whether you’re an undergraduate or a postgraduate student.

The Hackathon takes place over the course of two days:

  • On Thursday, you’ll have the opportunity to meet other students on other courses, find out what the brief is, and start designing your team’s solution.
  • On Friday, you’ll continue to implement your team’s solution building on your problem solving and development skills. We’ll celebrate the work of all the teams and award prizes and certificates!

Hackathons are a great way for you to meet other people, build your confidence, and develop your problem solving, team working, and communication skills. You can bring your own team along to the Hackathon, or, for anyone who doesn’t have a team we’ll run some team-forming activities on the first day to help you find some new friends to work with.

Hackathons are open to participants of all skill levels, and even if you don’t feel confident in your skills everyone will have something to contribute. It’s also a great way to learn from your peers and find out what people on other courses are learning and how your skills fit together!
