Funded Mock COP30 Simulation in Cairo, Egypt

5th October to 10th October
Take part in the youth COP 30 Simulation at the British University in Egypt. Discover how strategies and policies on climate are developed and implemented while networking with stakeholders and peers from around the world.

Please note applications for this project close on Sunday 15th June at the end of day.

We are inviting students to take part in the Youth COP 30 Simulation at the British University in Egypt. Discover how strategies and policies on climate are developed and implemented while networking with stakeholders and peers from around the world.

The COP30 Simulation is a global youth-led climate conference bringing together enthusiastic climate change advocates who aim to ignite real change in today’s world. Selected participants unite to bring their voices, simulate the real sessions of COP30, and interact with chief negotiators, country delegates, and international climate stakeholders.

Costs:

Flights are covered by the MMU, and the accommodation and breakfasts are provided by the British University in Egypt.

COP30 activities as part of this project:

1. A 2-week online capacity-building programme offered by global academic institutions and organisations on climate change. Participation in the online course is a compulsory part of the programme.

2. Mentored policy papers on climate-related themes, guided by mentors from relevant academic and professional backgrounds.

3. COP Mock Conference at the British University in Egypt. Students simulate country delegates, chief negotiators and non-state actors. They discuss and vote on their research-based resolutions.

4. The COP Simulations Declaration. The youth-voted resolutions are presented in the published declarations, which is presented at the actual COP30 in Brazil.

5. Top-performing students might have the opportunity to present the outcomes of the Mock Conference Declaration at the actual COP green and blue zones.

Please note that you must be available for the capacity-building programme in July, and for the week of the Mock COP Conference at the end of September/ beginning of October (exact dates TBC).
