English for International Students - ONLINE ONLY

20th November to 11th December
Support sessions designed to support international students and non-native speakers with their academic English. (This activity has been relisted to offer more places. You will be starting from WEEK 2)

This activity is particularly for the International Student Body or those who have English as a second language.

The Language Centre provides these sessions for any international or non-native speaking students currently enrolled at the University. Sessions run on campus and online – choose whichever suits you. The lessons are to support you and are not assessed, require no preparation and involve no homework.

This semester we’re providing sessions which focus chiefly on academic writing. Specifically, we’re going to be looking at how to understand assignment briefs, how to structure essays, how to read and write critically and how to approach your sources of information critically. The contexts are not discipline specific and explore and provide practice in areas which should be relevant to most students engaged in study.

You can expect to be working in an informal and collaborative way with the session’s tutors and your peers, so in addition to developing academic English skills you’ll have lots of opportunities to interact and speak with others.

Each week students have the opportunity to come to an online session.
