Creative Climate Action: The Story We Tell Together

18th February 13:30 to 16:00
A creative workshop with an industry guest for School of English students, which forms the last part of the Carbon Literacy Course.
Carbon Literacy training offers the chance for learners not only to develop their understanding of how climate change works and what is causing it, but also to empower themselves to take meaningful action, as individuals, and as collectives through their community and professional lives. Becoming a certified Carbon Literate citizen is a significant step in making positive changes for yourself, for Manchester Met, and for the planet.

Join us for the final module of your Carbon Literacy course – a chance to turn your ideas into real impact.

This student‑led workshop invites you to refine your personal pledges and collaborate on a creative, collective tapestry that will represent the School of English’s commitment to climate action. Your finished work will become part of a public display in Grosvenor East, showcasing how our community is stepping up.

You’ll also hear from industry guest Simon Curtis, who works at the heart of Greater Manchester’s cultural response to the climate crisis. As convenor of GMAST – a network of over 80 cultural organisations and individuals working together to understand and reduce environmental impact – Simon will offer insight into how creative industries are confronting environmental challenges and why your voice matters in that conversation.

Come along, get inspired, and help shape a visible statement of climate commitment for our School.
