Communicating Effectively in High Pressure Environments

3rd March 11:00 to 13:00
Join Kevin Taylor, Founder of Crimson Peak and former Head of Greater Manchester Police’s Hostage Negotiation Team.
This activity is offered as part of Go Global - an exciting set of activities, allowing students to engage in an international experience. Are you having problems signing up to this event? Email GGW6@mmu.ac.uk and we will try to fix the issue for you.

In whatever environment we work in, the modern workplace is often made up of team members from many nationalities. These diverse teams require us to adjust our communication style to engage and motivate effectively as leaders, whether that be with clients, stakeholders, or others within our teams. Our ability to communicate effectively, mainly when the pressure is on, is key to building and maintaining those relationships. Yet communication is all too often thought of as a “Soft Skill”, but what if your ability to communicate effectively was quite literally the difference between life and death. As the former head of the Hostage Negotiation Unit for Great Manchester Police Kevin Taylor knows all to well that communication is anything but a soft skill. In an interactive session, Kevin will share his experience and provide you with techniques and skills to manage even the most difficult of conversations; a must for any future leader.
