Carbon Literacy Training: Department of People and Performance

19th January to 23rd January
Carbon Literacy Training is an opportunity to equip yourself to make a positive change for you, and for the planet. This activity is part of Future Me Week. It is a self-study activity delivered online asynchronously) via Moodle, with two live (synchronous) events via Teams (introduction to the training; introduction to certification).
This activity is offered as part of Future Me Week - five days of exciting opportunities to develop your skills, deepen understanding, gain experience and take steps towards an exciting Future You.

Climate change is widely recognised as one of the greatest and most urgent challenges facing humankind. This challenge has been recognised internationally, within the UK, and on a local level. Carbon Literacy learning offers the chance to develop your understanding of climate change, gain knowledge to cut your carbon footprint, and gain confidence to talk to others about the impact of carbon emissions on the planet’s climate. Furthermore you will have the opportunity to gain certification in Carbon Literacy, an increasingly important employability skill.

This largely self-directed online training will give you an overview of the basic science of climate change as well as an understanding of the actions required by government, universities and other organisations, and individuals in order to set us on a path to a more sustainable.

The training is delivered via a series of videos, and activities and quizzes for you to demonstrate your learning. There will also be discussion forums for you to share your thoughts with fellow learners. Total study time is approximately 7-8 hours. Participants will be required to attend two live sessions:

 – Monday 19th January 11:00 am – 12:00 am (introduction to the online training)

 – Friday 23rd January 11:00 – 12:00 (instructions for Carbon Literacy certification)

This training is aimed at UG students in the Department of People and Performance, Faculty of Business and Law.
