Bookbanks Fundraiser – Volunteer Event Planners

18th February to 25th March
To celebrate the Year of Reading, we are looking for students to plan and deliver a fundraising event in support of BOOKBANKS, a charity that brings books into food banks to support literacy, wellbeing and community. You’ll get hands-on experience in event planning, promotion and facilitation, while giving back to an important cause.

Students will receive training and support throughout the project but will take the lead in shaping and delivering the event, developing practical employability skills you can evidence in future job applications and interviews. We want you to bring energy and creativity to the role – all ideas for the programme are welcome!

You must be available on 25 March for the event at Seesaw Space (and planning sessions across Feb/Mar)

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a student team to plan and deliver a public fundraising event
  • Contribute to the promotion of the event across digital and on-campus channels
  • Liaise with charity partners, venue staff and other stakeholders
  • Support event logistics, including planning, set-up and front-of-house delivery
  • Take part in training, planning meetings and post-event reflection

Skills Required

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Experience creating basic promotional or design assets (e.g. Canva or similar)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms for event promotion

How to Apply

Please FILL OUT THIS FORM by Tuesday 10 February – which includes a short supporting statement (300 words) explaining why you would like to get involved in this event, and what you would bring to the role (or hope to level-up!).

Any questions, email Sarah Cleave: s.cleave@mmu.ac.uk

DEADLINE: Tuesday 10 February
