A Beginner's Guide to the Future

21st January 14:00 to 15:00
Explore your own conceptions of the future and develop your future-facing skills in this playful, interactive workshop.

It’s Future Me Week! But what even is the future? And how can you position yourself so that your future genuinely belongs to you?

Society views the future in a number of different ways. Is it something to be feared or hoped for? Is it inevitable or changeable? And is there a difference between the answers to these questions if ‘the future’ is tomorrow or a hundred years from now?

In this playful, interactive session, we’ll spend some time exploring the future and discussing how our own conceptions of the future are formed by our thinking in the present. And we’ll equip ourselves with a toolkit for the future that will enable you to make the most of your career and personal opportunities, and take control of your own future.

The session will also form part of a wider research project* on Manchester Met’s approach to graduate outcomes, which you’ll hear more about.

*This project has been reviewed by the MMU Faculty of Business and Law Research Ethics and Governance Committee, EthOS82632.
