Introduction

One of the key messages we are hoping to convey in this course is the urgent need for climate action and that everyone, from governments to businesses and individuals, have a role to play in transitioning to a zero carbon world in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
As such, in Block 3 we will focus on individual and professional action planning. I.e. actions that you can take in your personal and professional life in order to contribute towards a Zero Carbon World. We will focus on the four main areas that makes up our carbon footprint:

  • Food
  • Buildings & Energy
  • Consumption & Waste
  • Travel &Transport.

You will be asked to conduct a low carbon action audit for each of the four areas, with the aim to encourage you to reflect on the actions you can take. For each of the areas you will also be asked to complete a challenge that will support you in reducing your carbon emissions.
By the end of this block, you will be asked to make two action pledges, the first is for an action that you can do on your own, in either your personal or professional life, and the second pledge is for a work based action that you can involve others in implementing.
Please note that the action pledges are essential in order to gain your Carbon Literacy Certificate!
