Getting started

Introduce

This online learning resource is based upon a reflective ethos and you are encouraged to reflect throughout. For more on this area, please refer to SEDW sprint Topic 1 Reflective Practice. Reflecting is an essential skill tool for professionals to grow and acknowledge strengths and areas to develop.

Develop

Listen to Dr Madeline Marczak, Principal Clinical Psychologist from Manchester Foundation Trust, discuss the importance of reflective practice:

Reflect

Take a moment to consider the following questions. Be mindful of any emotions that are emerging.

–  What are your goals and intentions at the start of this course?

  • What strengths do you bring?
  • What are your worries? Are there any barriers that could impact your engagement?

Think about the Confidence Rating Scale on the GM Early Years Workforce Competency Framework. What did you scale your confidence from 0 – 5? 5 is recognising your high level of confidence and competence when working with SEND in the early years and feeling equipped to support others. 0 is no existing skills or understanding to be able to connect to your current role.
