Hello!
As a member of the employability team at the School of Psychology at MMU, I often meet with psychology students that are interested in applying for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate. In our meetings I make certain suggestions for activities, online resources, and so on. Which made me think: why don’t I put together a blog post that contains all these useful resources?
So here they are:
- Clinical Psychologist job profile, from the British Psychological Society
- Career options for Psychology students
- The Aspiring Psychologist Podcast – Podcast – Apple Podcasts
- Securing an assistant psychologist or clinical research assistant post | BPS
- Phoebe’s Story – Assistant Psychologist – YouTube
- Interview with a Clinical Psychologist (you can find many more of these in The Psychologist website)
- Here is also the general Careers Service website: Careers Service | Manchester Metropolitan University
To boost your profile, work on your writing skills, and share your passion for Psychology with others, why not consider writing an employability blog?
Or an article for The Psychologist?
Other tips: write your own reference, and send it to your referees. They might or they might not take information from it, but the important thing is that you will have reflected on your career journey in a constructive way!
We wish you all the very best with your career and applications!
Kind regards,
Dr Aspa Paltoglou and the Employability Team.
