Calculate your Carbon Footprint (10 min)

So first of all, what is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere as a result of our activities. You can measure the carbon footprint of almost everything; a cup of tea, an individual, an organisation and as illustrated in previous activity, a nation and even the whole world.

Your final activity in this block is to explore and calculate your own carbon footprint.

To begin, please visit WWF’s footprint calculator: https://footprint.wwf.org.uk/#/ . You will be asked a number of questions about food, travel and transport, home energy as well as consumption. Please note that  the questions will often ask you about an “average” week, as these are exceptional times, you might struggle with answering these questions. As such, you have the option to either answer the questions according to your life before lock-down or your life during lock-down.

Alternatively, calculate your carbon footprint twice and compare your carbon footprint before and during lock down.

Please note down your carbon footprint(s) result as well as tips on actions you can take as you will need this information later on in this course!
