Welcome & Wellbeing Events

Camila Torres

Welcome everyone! Whether you’re a new or returning student, we’re thrilled to have you here at Manchester Met. To kick things off, Rise has planned a special Welcome Week just for you, filled with student-led events and workshops designed to help you relax, meet new people, and feel part of the Manchester Met community. Check our whole programme here.

Creativity is a big part of who we are, and we’ve made sure to incorporate it as part our plan to welcome you to university. The Rise Welcome Hub is a creative space for students to relax, create, and connect during Welcome Week. Whether you’re looking for a quiet moment, a chance to meet new people, or an outlet for your creativity, the Hub offers a supportive environment. Bring a brew or your lunch, make a zine or collage, meet our Rise Wellbeing Ambassadors, and spend time building connections on campus. Feel free to ask us any questions—stay for 5 minutes or an hour, everyone is welcome!

For those who fancy combining creativity, activity, and wellbeing, here are three exciting activities to get you moving, creating, and relaxing:

More inclined to arts and crafts? Then, these two activities are just for you!

  • Mindful Making at Welcome Sunday: Create your own coasters and keychains, learning how to use a punch needle to create your own textiles. All materials provided!
  • Making a Kurinuki plant pot: Create your own unique piece with the traditional Japanese pottery technique of Kurinuki to take home – all materials provided!
