Reflection is a really important professional skill and one that we encourage you to develop during this programme.
The academic paper by, Verpoorten, D., Westera, W., & Specht, M. (2012). Using reflection triggers while learning in an online course. British Journal of Educational Technology, 43(6), 1030-1040, explains why reflection is so important to our learning. They suggest that reflection triggers are nested in the study material and offered to individuals during learning activities, as an effective means of personal and professional development.
Reflection triggers offer a regular opportunity for you to evaluate your learning and shaping of your own internal feedback. We provide the opportunity for you to reflect each week – which is hugely important to your development of self.
There is no right or wrong answer! This is a critical professional skill that will support your personal development and the things that you need to do, to achieve your goals.
The STRIVE reflection template can be found here.
Use this template for everything you reflect on, which will form the basis of your team based RISE assessment in Semester 1 and Semester 2

Apply Your Thinking:
Consider some of the prompts below to help you with your thinking for your first reflection
- Did the experiences Iwi talked about in her TEDx resonate with you?
- Did you learn anything from the workshops this week?
- Are you a JEDI?
- Did you attend Yahya’s telling stories session? Could you relate to any of his experiences?

Important!:
Please note: Your reflections are to be used for your PAL team assessments – You will do one in semester one (50%) and the other in semester two (50%). You will provide a video of your team reflections using your individual reflections.
