Meet the team

Name: Dr Iwi Ugiagbe-Green

Lots of STRIVERS call me “Dr Iwi” – but honestly, Iwi is absolutely fine!

Many congratulations on becoming a STRIVER!! I am incredibly proud to have created this amazing programme and am joined by an amazing team of people who make it happen.

I was a first generation student from a lower socio-economic background. I grew up on a council estate and received free school meals. I got to University through clearing and if I can achieve the amazing things I have gone on to do in my career – then so can you!! You just need some support and guidance

Remember – what you put into this programme, is what you get out! Good luck!

Teaching the next generation of fashion leaders how to do things differently, more inclusively inspires her everyday. Diversifying curriculums and being involved in projects outside of her teaching responsibilities, that enhance the experience for students of colour at university and also creates opportunities for them in the industry excites and drives her. Say hi to her in the corridors, she always open to a conversation about fabulous shoes or being a person of colour in the fashion industry!

Name: Abra Ibanga

My name is Abra – I’m a Joint Honours, Arts and Humanities Graduate. Interning with Strive, working in co-ordinating and assisting in the curating of events. I encourage you, to treat Strive as a buffet – to try everything you can. Most workshops and events you’ll really like, a number you’ll recommend to others, and many you’ll return to. But not to be the person who wished they would have tried something new, when given the chance, in a plethora of opportunity. Strive has made readily available a lot of resources, to ease you in your journey in academia and support you in your personal and professional development beyond – buffet style, helping to offset differential outcomes. Enjoy all that’s on offer and I look forward to seeing you around!
