World AIDS Day Awareness Raising Volunteer
The purpose of this opportunity is to increase awareness of HIV and raise vital funds for local charities providing support to people living with HIV.
World AIDS Day is an international day of awareness raising and action about HIV, held on 1st December each year. We are looking for volunteers to work in pairs to help with face-to-face awareness raising in various locations in and around Manchester City Centre on Friday the 1st of December.
Additionally, we are looking for volunteers to support with the World AIDS Day Candlelit Vigil, on December the 1st in Sackville Gardens. Volunteers will assist with setting up and management of the vigil, as well as candle selling and stewarding the event.
Shifts are between 2 and 3 hours and we will ensure that if you apply with a friend that you will be paired up with them for your shift. Volunteers are required to be outgoing and friendly as they will be the face of the George House Trust and World AIDS Day.
Activities include:
Raising awareness of HIV and World AIDS Day
Talking to the public to share key messages on ending the stigma of HIV and HIV prevention (U=U, PrEP, PEP, condoms)
Candle and ribbon selling, and stewarding at the World AIDS Day Candlelit Vigil in Sackville Gardens on the 1st of December
Full training will be provided.
