Warehouse assistant

Manchester Central Foodbank are looking for a warehouse assistant. Manchester Central Foodbank feeds over 1600 people per month - that is a lot of tins of food! They need help each week to pack these ready to be taken to our foodbank sessions

Who we are: 
Manchester Central Foodbank provides three-day emergency food parcels for people in need, on a referral-only basis. Sadly 1 in 5 people in the UK live below the poverty line. Manchester Central Foodbank support 1600 people a month. 
What are we looking for: 
Each week we distribute over 7000 tins and packets to people in need across central, north and east Manchester. We need a volunteer who can commit to each week, to help count and pack the stock for each session, and load this onto the van. You need to be physically able to lift reasonably heavy weights and pack these onto a van.
What would you be doing: 
Main tasks: 

To support the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator in ensuring that the warehouse is tidy, organised and well-stocked at all times.
Ensure that all Trussell Trust warehousing procedures and processes are followed, as per the Foodbank Operating Manual
Keep warehouse area clean and tidy at all times, checking for evidence of pests and notifying the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator if there are any concerns
Receive food donations from members of the public and thank them for their generosity
Ensure that incoming stock is checked (in terms of quality and best before/use-by dates), weighed, and recorded
Notify the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator when food stock is low so that appeals can be made for these items
Report any health & safety concerns to the Warehouse and Logistics Coordinator
