Volunteer Mentor

3rd June to 30th April
ReachOut are looking for volunteers across Manchester who want to give two hours a week over the course of an academic year to mentor a young person in need of a positive role model.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central

Who we are:
ReachOut is a national mentoring and education charity, rooted in local communities. Working in under-resourced areas, we support young people who are in need of a positive role model to grow in character and confidence, sparking change in themselves and society.
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
As a ReachOut mentor you will make a real difference to the lives of young people in your local community, you will watch them grow in social and academic confidence, develop their character and raise their aspirations.
You will be involved in one of our weekly after-school ReachOut Projects, working with either primary or secondary school students. Our sessions are fun and engaging, involving both group activities and one-to-one discussions. As a mentor you will be paired with a young person, who you will work with each week over the course of the school year, helping them to develop their character, exceed their goals and grow in confidence.
Whether or not you’ve worked with young people before we would love to have you come and mentor with us. You will have the opportunity to develop a whole range of skills from communication and team work to leadership and problem solving. You will also be able to meet new people, make new friends and spend two hours a week having fun and knowing you’re making a difference!
All of our projects start during the Autumn, each running for different lengths of time so that you can pick the type of project that best suits you! We run sessions from Monday through to Thursday across a range of locations within Manchester and Liverpool. You can pick a project which runs in the afternoons or the evenings, so you will be sure to find something that fits in with your schedule. We do ask that you commit to the full duration of the project as this allows for the best mentee-mentor relationships to form and creates the strongest impact for our young people.
Before you begin volunteering with us we will ask you to attend an online training session, complete a DBS (that we organise) and submit references. Throughout your time volunteering you will also receive ongoing support. Each session is led by an experienced Project Leader who is always on hand to offer support and answer your queries.
We are currently looking for volunteers for the 2024/25 academic year! If this sounds like something you are interested in, please register below to get the sign up link.
