City Year UK is an educational inequality charity that offers a year-long, mentoring and leadership programme for 18 - 25 year olds. At City Year UK, we offer 18 - 25 year olds a unique placement, graduate or gap year leadership and mentoring programme with the aim to tackle educational inequality and empower young people to engage in social action.
Monday - Thursday, Volunteer Mentors will get a chance to work with young people in a 1:1 and classroom setting in a school in our year-long full time placement, helping with young people's academic progression, attendance, behaviour and emotional development. Moreover, our Volunteer Mentors develop their personal and professional development through our Friday Leadership Development Days.
Mentors receive Level 3 Qualifications in Leadership and Management, Coaching and Mentoring, in addition to getting their own professional mentor from one of our corporate partners to aid their career development.
Throughout the year, Mentors get the chance to run their own Social Action Projects to fundraise for a charity of their choice.
Our programme is based in several boroughs of Greater Manchester and we're currently looking for Volunteer Mentors for our programme with an ASAP start running until July 2023, or for our August 2023 - July 2024 programme.
You will receive weekly living expenses for your service in addition to all travel expenses being reimbursed.
