Stitched Up Volunteer

21st February to 31st December
Stitched Up is a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society inspiring communities across Greater Manchester to take action on sustainable fashion. We're based out of our sustainable clothing hub in Stretford Mall, a space for crafters, makers and menders, providing an alternative to the chain stores and empty shops of your average British high street. Volunteering with us is flexible and an opportunity to meet like-minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central

Stitched Up Volunteering
Who are we?
Stitched Up is a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society inspiring communities across Greater Manchester to take action on sustainable fashion.
We currently run a sustainable clothing hub in Stretford Mall – a space for crafters, makers and menders, providing an alternative to the chain stores and empty shops of your average British high street. From here you can access our public programme of sewing, mending and upcycling workshops, sustainable fabric sales, volunteering opportunities and events like talks and film screenings.
We also bring our workshops, events and projects to locations across Greater Manchester.
Who are we looking for?
We’re always looking for passionate and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team. We need help with all sorts of things, from preparing for and assisting at workshops, to mending and sewing projects to the general running of our shop and back-stock of donated textiles. You don't have to be able to sew to volunteer with us, just share our passion for sustainability, community and alternatives to the fast fashion industry!
Volunteering with us is a great way to meet other makers and activists from lots of different backgrounds whilst doing something good for the community.
What does volunteering with us involve?
We run a whole variety of volunteer sessions, from weekly to monthly, so there should be something for everyone! We don't require a minimum number of hours so volunteering with us is very flexible. We aim to create friendly and relaxed volunteer sessions with lots of tea and biscuits available! We offer travel reinbursement and a discount at our reclaimed fabric and habedashery shop for all our volunteers.
We run two sessions a week of general volunteering - this can be helping us out in our shop, sewing projects, stock and shop organising, helping us prep for campaigns, workshops and much more! We also have once a month sessions where we weigh, organise and categorise incoming textile donations as well as a variety of different events such as Clothes Swaps, a monthly Repair Cafe, Yard Sales, workshops and more.
If you have any questions at all please get in touch, we look forward to meeting you!
