Music Session Volunteer (Manchester Services)

We are looking for people 18+ who have some spare time and would like to give back time to the local community, by supporting arts and crafting activities at our centres
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central
 
Why we want you
We are looking for people 18+ who have some spare time and would like to give back time to the local community, by supporting arts and crafting activities at our centres. Do you have skills or a passion for music and / or singing that you would like to share with others? Do you play an instrument that could provide a fun or learning experience for autistic people?
Many autistic people just love music and really appreciate the opportunity to be involved in singing or playing a musical instruments. We find that music can naturally support group participation and social interaction skills that are really rewarding to see grow and develop.
What you will be doing

Lead and support autistic adults in playing a musical instrument and / or singing.
We are open to a wide range of musical sessions – you might want to introduce a drumming circle, guitar workshops, singing groups, individual music making sessions and listening sessions.

The skills you need

Good communication and interpersonal skills
Empathy, understanding and sensitive to the needs of others.
Interest music and qualifications and/or experience
Ability to volunteer within the boundaries of NAS policies, eg Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Lone Working etc
Reliable, consistent, dependable and trustworthy
You will need to provide 2 references and also complete a DBS check

When and where
Approx 4 hours per week, we can be flexible on days and times Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm Based at The National Autistic Society Centre in Northenden, South Manchester

• Induction into the organisation and understanding autism training • Access to online training • Support from a line manager • Agreed expenses paid
