Horticulture Volunteer at National Autistic Society services (Manchester Services)

We are looking for people 18+ who have some spare time and would like to give back time to the local community, by supporting Horticultural/gardening activities at our centre.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central
 
Why we want you
We are looking for people 18+ who have some spare time and would like to give back time to the local community, by supporting Horticultural/gardening activities at our centre
We would like you to have some experience in Horticulture/gardening to help us develop and grown our garden.
What you will be doing

Help organise horticulture sessions with assistance from our support workers to provide guidance and advice for people that attend the centres and live in our residential houses.
Provide advice for staff and students on aspects of Horticulture including what equipment to use to be most effective.
Helping with the planning of the activities
Be proactive and encouraging with people at the session to encourage them to develop new skills

The skills you need

Good communication and interpersonal skills
Empathy, understanding and sensitive to the needs of others.
Interests in gardening and qualifications and/or experience
Ability to volunteer within the boundaries of NAS policies, eg Safeguarding, Confidentiality, Lone Working etc
Reliable, consistent, dependable and trustworthy
You will need to provide 2 references and also complete a DBS check

When and where
Approx 4 hours per week, we can be flexible on days and times Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm Based at The National Autistic Society Centre in Northenden, South Manchester
