Food Scheme Volunteers (Newton Heath Library)
Volunteers are needed to help unload the van and pack food into bags and distribute onsite to customers. You will need to be able to lift and move carrier bags full of food as well as follow directions.
The Our Manchester Food Partnership (OMFP) is a new partnership of social food providers (made up of affordable food schemes, food banks and community grocers) who are working together to simplify and improve the support available for residents in need across the city.
Can you help Our Manchester Food Partnership at Newton Heath Library?
Could you or anyone you know spare a few hours on a Saturday, 10:00 - 13:00.
Our Manchester Food Partnership alongside The Bread and Butter Thing will be operating an affordable food scheme from Newton Heath Library which will support around 100 residents per week. Customers pay for bags of food that come from supermarket and factory surplus at a reduced price, saving an average of £25 per week.
Volunteers are needed to help unload the van and pack food into bags and distribute it onsite to customers. You will need to be able to lift and move carrier bags full of food as well as follow directions.
You will be part of a team of volunteers, volunteering in a friendly atmosphere knowing that you are supporting the local community and utilising the opportunity to help those in need.
