English Conversation Volunteer (Central Manchester)

27th April to 31st December
Do you want to help refugees improve their English? This is your opportunity to do so in an informal setting such as a conversation cafe, gardening club or cooking group. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to chat with refugees studying with Caritas Aspire.
This activity is brought to you by The Union in partnership with Manchester Community Central

The opportunity to speak conversational English with native speakers is absolutely essential for refugees seeking to integrate into their new communities. However, due to the social isolation refugees often find themselves in, it can be difficult to find the opportunity to do so. By volunteering with us you will be offering valuable support to refugees.
This role will be flexible, with volunteers able to book into sessions at times convenient for them. All sessions will be face-to-face at locations in Central Manchester.
Why we want you
Caritas Aspire Education offers English classes, mentoring and well-being services to refugees in Greater Manchester. Integral to our service is the offering of a welcoming and aspirational community in which refugees can make connections, improve their language, and rebuild their lives. We are therefore looking for native or native-level English speakers to participate in informal conversation groups with our refugee learners.
